Langmeil Jackaman's Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Langmeil Jackaman's Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the more serious Cabernets from this long-established Tanunda winery.

The Barossa is famous for Shiraz, but Cabernet Sauvignon has been grown on the valley floor for well over a century and does well in the warm, dry summers. For this wine the Langmeil team select Barossa fruit with good depth of colour and structure, and mature it in French oak, including a portion of new barrels, which brings cedar and a gentle sweetness to the finish. It is a medium to full-bodied style, with blackcurrant and blue fruits, a savoury edge of black olive and licorice, and silky tannins holding it together.

Decant for an hour if drinking young and serve at around 16 to 18 degrees. Beef Wellington, slow-roasted lamb shoulder or aged cheddar are all good partners, and the wine will reward another eight to ten years in a cool cellar.
