Langmeil Lineage Shiraz 2018

Langmeil Lineage Shiraz is a plush, spicy Shiraz that speaks of the Barossa's long winemaking history.

The name nods to the generations of growers who have shaped the Barossa since the first vineyards went in during the 1840s. Langmeil's winery at Tanunda stands on one of those early settlement sites, and the family behind it has made a point of keeping old vineyards in production. For this wine, Barossa Shiraz is fermented for depth and then matured in oak, giving ripe Satsuma plum, mocha and vanilla alongside cedar and allspice. The 2018 vintage was a warm, even year in the Barossa, producing generous, full-bodied wines with silky tannins.

Pour it at around 16 to 18 degrees alongside a standing rib roast, smoky barbecue brisket or a mushroom and blue cheese tart. It has some age already and will keep improving for several more years.
