Langmeil The Fifth Wave Grenache 2022

Langmeil The Fifth Wave Grenache is a more serious, oak-matured Grenache from the Barossa Valley.

This wine shows how much depth Barossa Grenache can reach when it is grown on older vines and given time in barrel. Langmeil select fruit for concentration and mature the wine in oak, which adds cedar and savoury notes to dark cherry, raspberry and sweet spice. The palate is soft and generous, balanced by briary spice and the chalky, fine-grained tannins that good Grenache is known for. It comes from the Langmeil winery at Tanunda, where the family has championed the Barossa's heritage vineyards for three decades.

Serve at around 16 degrees with slow-roasted pork shoulder, a Moroccan lamb tagine or duck with cherries. It drinks well now and will develop over the next five or more years.
