Description

Lark Hill Scuro blends Sangiovese with Shiraz from the estate's biodynamic vineyard above Lake George.

Scuro means dark in Italian. Blending Sangiovese's acidity and savoury tannin with Shiraz's depth is an Australian idea rather than an Italian one, and it suits a cool, high site where neither variety ripens heavily. Lark Hill farms biodynamically at 860 metres. Fermentation is with native yeast and ageing in seasoned oak.

Serve at 16 degrees with grilled meats, pasta or a hard cheese. Drink over the next eight years.
