Description
Laurent Roumier Chambolle-Musigny is a village Pinot Noir from the most perfumed commune of the Côte de Nuits, bottled in magnum.
Chambolle-Musigny produces the most aromatic red Burgundy of the Côte de Nuits. The soils are shallow and highly calcareous, with active limestone and little clay, so the wines are fine boned and lifted where neighbouring Morey and Gevrey are broad and firm. The village sits in the mouth of the Combe d'Ambin, a cleft in the escarpment that draws cool air across the slope and slows ripening, which is part of why the fruit keeps such freshness. Laurent Roumier is a small domaine in the commune, part of the extended Roumier family long established there. The village wine is assembled from parcels around Chambolle, fermented in open vats and matured in barrel with restrained new oak.
Light-bodied and fragrant, it is a wine for poultry, veal and mushroom dishes; serve at about 15 to 16 degrees.
