Description

Laurent Roumier Chambolle Musigny is a village red from the commune widely held to give the most perfumed and finely boned Pinot Noir on the Côte de Nuits.

Chambolle-Musigny lies between Morey-Saint-Denis and Vougeot, and its character comes from soil as much as from position: the limestone here is hard and the topsoil unusually thin and pale, with very little clay, which is the accepted explanation for the lace-like texture of its wines. Village vineyards are scattered on both sides of the combe that cuts up behind the village, some on the scree fan it deposits, others on the gentler slope towards Vougeot. Pinot Noir is the sole grape. The village wines are normally fermented in small open vats after sorting, with the proportion of whole bunches decided vintage by vintage, and raised in barrel with a modest share of new wood so that the perfume is not covered.

Fragrant and fine-grained rather than powerful, it suits duck, veal and dishes with beetroot or mushroom; serve at around 16 degrees.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
