Description
Laurent Roumier Chambolle Musigny is the domaine's village bottling from the most delicately framed commune of the Côte de Nuits.
Chambolle-Musigny sits on a steep, narrow section of the slope split by the Combe Ambin, and its vineyards are worked on shallow, stony, actively calcareous soils with little clay to hold water. That combination is what growers point to when they describe the appellation's silky texture and high-toned perfume, qualities that set Chambolle apart from the firmer wines of Morey-Saint-Denis to the north and the broader ones of Vougeot to the south. Village parcels are usually spread across several sites and blended after fermentation. Pinot Noir is the only grape permitted, and the wine is raised in barrel, generally for around a year and a half, with new oak kept low so the fruit and the site remain in front.
A supple, aromatic red for roast poultry, pork and soft washed-rind cheeses; serve at around 16 degrees.
