Le C de Calon Ségur 2019

Le C de Calon Ségur is the third wine of Château Calon Ségur in Saint-Estèphe, made in a fresh, fruit-driven style for earlier drinking.

Calon Ségur is a Third Growth of the 1855 Classification and one of the oldest estates in Saint-Estèphe, famous for the heart on its label. The story goes that the Marquis de Ségur, who in the 18th century also owned Lafite and Latour, declared that his heart belonged to Calon. The estate has been extensively renovated in recent years, including a major rebuild of the winery. Le C draws mainly on the estate's young vines, and the 2019 blend is led by Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Cabernet Franc, giving a fresh, juicy wine made to enjoy young.

Open it now, serving at 16 to 18 degrees after a short decant. Try it with a burger topped with good cheddar, lamb kofta or a charcuterie board.
