Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso is a benchmark varietal Cabernet Franc from Bolgheri, one of the wines that helped define this coastal Tuscan region's modern reputation.

Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast near Livorno, rose to prominence in the late twentieth century as producers found that Bordeaux varieties thrived in its warm, breezy, gravel- and clay-rich terroir close to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Le Macchiole was among the estate's pioneers, founded by Eugenio Campolmi and today led by Cinzia Merli, and was one of the first Bolgheri producers to bottle single-variety wines rather than traditional blends. Paleo Rosso, made entirely from Cabernet Franc, is regarded as one of the estate's flagship wines and a reference point for the variety in Italy.

A powerful, structured red with the depth to age gracefully, it is well suited to robust roasted and grilled meats and special occasions.
