Description
Les Fiefs de Lagrange is the second wine of Château Lagrange, a classified growth in Saint-Julien on the left bank of Bordeaux.
Château Lagrange was ranked a third growth in the 1855 classification and is one of the largest classified estates in the Médoc, set back from the river on the western side of the Saint-Julien appellation. It had fallen into serious neglect by the second half of the twentieth century, and its revival dates from 1983, when the Japanese company Suntory bought the property and began a long programme of replanting and rebuilding. Les Fiefs de Lagrange is drawn from the parcels and vats not selected for the grand vin, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a little Petit Verdot, made in the same cellar and to the same thinking as its senior.
Decant and serve at around seventeen degrees with roast lamb, beef or hard cheese; it will keep comfortably for a decade.
