Lethbridge Chardonnay 2024

Lethbridge Chardonnay is a Geelong Chardonnay assembled from four vineyards across the region.

2024 is the first year a full crop came in from Hat Rock, the bayside Bellarine site on dark clay and loam with limestone. Alongside it sit the Moorabool home block at 205 metres on basalt-derived clay over basalt, a small parcel from Suma Park on the Bellarine's thin red clay, and Hillside Haven at 254 metres on Mount Anakie's western slope, where rich black clay and granite lie above quaternary basalt. Parcels were hand-harvested separately, pressed as whole bunches and fermented on wild yeast in the estate's own lightly toasted French barrels, made to order, then taken through full malolactic conversion and aged in about 40 per cent new oak.

More powerful than the 2023, with the house signature intact: stone fruit layered over citrus, wet stone and oak spice, and a cool-climate line of acid that keeps the finish going. Serve at 12 degrees. Try it with roast pork, crab, a chicken and leek pie or Comté.
