Lethbridge Ménage à Noir 2025

Lethbridge Ménage à Noir is a whole-bunch-influenced Pinot Noir drawn mainly from Henty.

Thirty per cent whole bunches went into the 2025, fermented in a 3,000-litre wooden vat with regular pump-overs, then aged in French oak of assorted sizes, 225, 300 and 2,500 litres, with only about a tenth of it new. The bulk of the fruit comes off Jack and Lois Doeven's Drumborg vineyard in Henty, planted in the 1980s on schist and cropping very low, with the balance from Geelong. Ray Nadeson describes this label as Lethbridge-lite; it is better understood as the most immediately drinkable wine in a very good Pinot range.

Spicy and fleshy, with crunchy Satsuma plum, forest floor and the hearty core typical of the house style. Serve at 14 to 15 degrees. Match it with duck sausages, roast chicken, a lentil and bacon braise, or soft cheese on toast.
