Lionel Faury Côte-Rôtie Emporium 2022

Lionel Faury Côte-Rôtie Emporium is a Syrah from the steepest terraces of the northern Rhône.

Côte-Rôtie means roasted slope, and the vineyards above Ampuis are so sheer that the vines are trained on stakes and worked entirely by hand, with retaining walls holding the schist soil in place. The appellation permits a small addition of Viognier co-fermented with the Syrah, a practice found nowhere else. The Faury family has worked these slopes for generations.

Decant and serve at 16 degrees with roast lamb, duck or game. It develops over fifteen years.
