Little Reddie Colbinabbin Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is a medium-bodied red from three rows of vines in Heathcote.

Three rows. That is the whole parcel, planted at the Chalmers vineyard where the roots push down into the deep red Colbo soils that made Colbinabbin's name. Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is a Friulian variety with thick skins and plenty of acid, and Pat Underwood picks it on phenolic ripeness, reading tannin and skin instead of sugar, which keeps the dark fruit clean and the alcohol in check. Bunches were destemmed and split between closed stainless steel and open-top vessels, each parcel handled as it asked to be. He rates 2024 the strongest version he has bottled.
