Little Reddie Leanganook Chardonnay 2025

Little Reddie Leanganook Chardonnay is a full-bodied Chardonnay grown on decomposed granite at 475 metres in Bendigo.

A warmer, more open season is written all over this vintage, which balances generous fruit against the austerity the site always brings. The vines, planted to I clones in the late 1990s on the western slopes of Leanganook, sit on quartz and feldspar sand and face the afternoon sun. Picking again ran across many passes, working progressively down the hill so each parcel could be treated according to where its ripeness had landed. One rolling cool ferment in stainless steel formed the base; once dry, the wine went to a mix of old and younger barrels, and Pat Underwood blended in early 2026 ahead of a March bottling.

Riper in the mouth than some years, with nectarine and lemon curd, a sappy oak note and a saline close. Fine acidity holds it upright. Fifteen minutes out of the fridge suits it best; serve with pork belly, roast pumpkin or a creamy fish pie.
