Louis Billard Gevrey-Chambertin 'Regnard' 2023

Louis Billard Gevrey-Chambertin 'Regnard' is a single-vineyard red Burgundy from the Regnard lieu-dit within the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, made by one of the region's most closely watched young growers.

Louis Billard is the fifth generation of a Burgundian winemaking family whose forebears founded Domaine Billard Père et Fils in 1930; after training extensively in the region, including two years at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, he launched his own independent label in 2022 from La Rochepot in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest and among the most prestigious red-wine villages of the Côte de Nuits, and Billard applies the same methodical approach here as across his range: cold pre-fermentation maceration, indigenous-yeast fermentation, ageing in barrels of around thirty percent new oak, and minimal sulfur additions in pursuit of a pure, terroir-faithful style.

A structured, savoury single-vineyard red, it is well suited to roast meats and richer, slow-cooked fare.
