Description

A Barolo made from a single anomalous Nebbiolo vine that Luciano Sandrone found in 1987 and then spent twenty-five years propagating.

Sandrone noticed the vine in the Le Coste cru, south of Barolo village, in a plot belonging to a grower known locally as Talin. He took cuttings and worked at them for years through field grafting, eventually establishing around two thousand plants in Le Coste and two further vineyards near the village; DNA analysis in 2017 confirmed the material as Nebbiolo, though of a distinct type. The 2013 was the first commercial release and quantities remain very small. Luciano had bought his first vineyard on the Cannubi hill in 1977 and made his debut vintage in 1978 in his parents' garage, moving into a purpose-built cellar below Cannubi in 1998; his daughter Barbara has handled the estate's day-to-day running since the 1990s. Vite Talin ferments in large oak, then spends about three years in large French tonneaux and casks and three more in bottle before release.

Built for the cellar and worth decanting if opened young. Serve at 16-18°C with braised beef, game or aged hard cheese.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
