Description
Luciano Sandrone Dolcetto d'Alba is drawn from around ten parcels in the Barolo communes, several of them among the highest vineyards in the zone.
Dolcetto d'Alba covers the Langhe hills around Alba, and the variety is usually treated as the everyday red of the district. Sandrone treats it otherwise. The estate vineyards in Monforte d'Alba contribute Castelletto and Cascina Pe Mol, the latter at the top of the ridge running towards the hamlet of Perno and among the highest sites in the region; from Novello come Rocche di San Nicola and the whitish marls of Ravera, whose easterly exposure lends perfume; and Rivassi and Crosia in the commune of Barolo now join them. Altitude brings freshness. Each parcel is vinified separately and blended, with anything below standard sold off in bulk, and the wine is aged in tank alone, without oak.
Drink over the next three or four years. Serve slightly cool, at 15-16°C, with salumi, veal in tuna sauce or a plate of tajarin.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
