Description
Lucien Muzard Bourgogne rouge is a regional red Burgundy from an organically farmed family domaine in Santenay.
Domaine Lucien Muzard et Fils is based in Santenay at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune, where the Muzard brothers farm the family's vineyards and work organically. The Bourgogne rouge is drawn from parcels lying outside the village boundaries, on the flatter ground and lower slopes around Santenay, planted to Pinot Noir. Wines at the regional level are made to be direct: destemmed fruit, a short cuvaison to keep extraction gentle, and ageing in used oak barrel rather than new wood, so the result is bright and red fruited with fine tannin and enough acidity to sit well at the table. It is the sort of bottle that shows what a good address can do at the base of its range.
Bright, light and easy, it suits charcuterie, roast chicken and simple stews; serve at around 15 degrees or lightly chilled.
