Grown in the rolling hills of Umbria, this wine highlights the adaptability and growing popularity of Vermentino across central Italy.

Produced by the iconic Lungarotti estate, the Pometo range focuses on approachable, contemporary wines designed for relaxed drinking and everyday enjoyment. Lungarotti has played a defining role in shaping Umbria’s wine reputation, blending innovation with deep regional roots.

This is a fresh and easy-going Italian white that brings together Umbrian charm and Mediterranean influence, ideal for casual lunches, aperitivo moments and lighter dishes.

Recipe

Strangozzi al Tartufo (Umbrian Hand-Rolled Pasta with Black Truffle)

Ingredients:

  • 400g strangozzi (or fresh tagliatelle if unavailable)
  • 40–60g fresh black truffle (or high-quality truffle paste)
  • 5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, lightly crushed
  • 80ml dry white wine
  • 1 large handful flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Cook the strangozzi in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente.
  2. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large pan over low heat and gently sauté the garlic until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the white wine and simmer for 1–2 minutes to reduce slightly.
  4. Remove the garlic cloves and add the drained pasta to the pan.
  5. Shave most of the truffle directly over the pasta and toss vigorously to coat.
  6. Stir through most of the parsley and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  7. Serve immediately topped with the remaining truffle, parsley and an extra grind of black pepper.

The earthy aroma of Umbrian black truffle is beautifully lifted by Vermentino’s fresh citrus notes and bright acidity, while the wine’s subtle Mediterranean character complements the richness of the olive oil and pasta without overwhelming the delicate truffle flavours.
