Mader Riesling Rosacker 1.5L MAGNUM 2021

Mader Riesling Rosacker is a dry grand cru Riesling from the dolomitic limestone slope above Hunawihr in Alsace, in magnum.

Rosacker climbs the hillside above the village of Hunawihr on dolomitic limestone, a hard and free draining soil that gives Riesling a firm, almost salty structure; the grand cru is best known as the home of the walled Clos Sainte Hune. Domaine Mader is a small family estate in Hunawihr working a handful of hectares across the village and its grand cru. The Riesling is picked by hand, whole bunch pressed, fermented with indigenous yeast and raised in neutral vessels without new oak before being bottled dry. Wines from this site are typically closed in youth and need several years to unwind.

Dry, chalky and quite austere when young, it suits oysters, trout, choucroute and washed rind cheese; serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
