Description
Maison Bodet-Herold Cremant de Loire Ternay Brut Nature is a zero dosage Loire sparkling wine made entirely from Chenin Blanc and held two years on lees.
Maison Bodet-Herold works in the Loire Valley with Chenin Blanc for traditional method sparkling wine under the Cremant de Loire appellation. Cremant de Loire is made across Anjou, Saumur and Touraine on tuffeau limestone and clay soils, with a minimum of nine months on lees, though the better cuvees go far beyond that. Chenin Blanc is the signature grape, prized for its naturally high acidity, its ability to carry autolytic complexity and its capacity to age. This cuvee is bottled brut nature, meaning no dosage at all is added at disgorgement, so the wine relies on ripe fruit and extended lees ageing for balance rather than sugar. The Ternay bottling spends twenty four months on lees before disgorgement.
Dry, taut and mineral in style, it suits oysters, goat cheese and fried seafood, and works equally well as an apertif; serve chilled at around 8 degrees.
