Description
Bourgogne Aligoté "Du Jardin" is a vivid, fruit-driven white from Maison C. Thiriet, made from 100% Aligoté - Burgundy's other white grape, prized for its brisk acidity and generally used for lighter, earlier-drinking wines than Chardonnay.
Camille Thiriet started from scratch in Burgundy, building the domaine from nothing since her first vintage in 2016 - a real achievement in a region where vineyard land rarely comes up for sale. Based around Corgoloin and Comblanchien in the Côte de Nuits, she now farms six hectares (following the recent acquisition of Domaine Gilles Jourdan) alongside a négociant business under the Maison C. Thiriet label, sourcing carefully from growers she trusts. The wines are made with real precision and sometimes a portion of whole-cluster fermentation, favouring a lighter, more perfumed, contemporary style over heavier, more traditional Burgundy.
Zesty and lively, with citrus and green apple character, it's a lovely aperitif white or a match for goat's cheese and simple shellfish; serve at around 10-12 degrees.
