Description

Maison Ponsot Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne is drawn from two parcels high on the Corton hill, in Le Charlemagne and Les Languettes.

Corton-Charlemagne is the great white Grand Cru of the Côte de Beaune, wrapping around the upper part of the Corton hill where the soils turn pale and marly and the aspect swings from south-west round to the south-east. Ponsot first made this wine in 2009, under the Maison label, from two parcels in Aloxe-Corton. The first lies in Le Charlemagne on the Pernand border, the second in Les Languettes, a cool site wedged between Les Pougets and Le Corton. Sitting directly below the woods that crown the hill, Les Languettes is known for a marked expression of white-soil minerality and freshness. Across the two parcels the vines average forty years of age. The wine matured for sixteen months in eight-year-old barrels, so oak plays a supporting role only.

Needs time and will reward five to fifteen years in the cellar. Serve at 10-12°C with roast poultry, lobster or veal in a cream sauce.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
