Description
Marc Brédif Vouvray Classic is a Loire Valley Chenin Blanc from one of Vouvray's best-known houses.
The house is based at Rochecorbon, on the banks of the Loire just east of Tours, where its wines mature in troglodyte cellars carved deep into the soft tuffeau limestone of the hillside. These cool, stable cellars suit Chenin Blanc, the grape at the heart of Vouvray. Since 1980 the estate has belonged to Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, also known for his Pouilly-Fumé, and the range takes in dry, off-dry, sweet and sparkling Vouvray. The Classic draws on vineyards across the appellation's clay, flint and limestone slopes, and shows the full, round attack and lemony freshness that make Vouvray such a versatile food wine.
Serve chilled, at around 8 to 10 degrees. Its richness and citrus lift make it a fine partner for pork rillettes, roast chicken, a Thai green curry or a soft Loire goat's cheese. It can be enjoyed young or cellared for several years, as good Chenin gains complexity with age.
