Marion's Vineyard Chardonnay 2022

Marion's Vineyard Chardonnay is a taut, fine estate Chardonnay from the Tamar Valley in northern Tasmania.

Frost and temperature extremes are kept in check by the river, which the vineyard's slopes run down to at Deviot on the western bank. Planted in the early 1980s by Mark and Marion Semmens, it's one of the older sites in the valley, and the long season suits the Burgundian varieties. Here the grape builds flavour slowly while holding a firm line of natural acidity. Some French oak in fermentation and maturation adds texture and structure, not obvious oak flavour.

Citrus and stone fruit over crisp, cool acidity. Good with scallops, crayfish, roast chicken or soft cheeses, at 10–12°C.
