Massena Seppeltsfield Grenache 2020

Massena Seppeltsfield Grenache is a single vineyard Barossa Grenache from the Seppeltsfield district on the valley's western ridge.

Massena, the Barossa label of Jaysen Collins and Dan Standish, makes a small single vineyard range alongside its regional blends, each wine showing a particular site. Seppeltsfield lies on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley, a district long associated with the fortified wines of the Seppelt family, where elevated, well drained slopes and sandy and ironstone soils suit Grenache. The variety has been planted in the Barossa since the mid nineteenth century and in these warm, dry conditions it gives wine of perfume and fine, sandy tannin rather than weight. The approach is to let the site speak, with restrained extraction and oak playing a supporting role, and the wine is sealed under cork.

Fragrant and fine boned, it pairs well with roast lamb, duck and mushroom dishes; serve at around 16 degrees.
