Description
Massolino's Moscato d'Asti is a lightly sparkling, low-alcohol sweet wine made in small quantity by a house better known for Barolo.
Moscato d'Asti comes from Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains grown across the hills between Asti and Cuneo, and is made by chilling the must and arresting a single, partial fermentation under pressure, so the wine keeps its natural grape sugar, a light spritz and around five degrees of alcohol. Massolino hand-harvest their fruit, with a good portion grown on the calcareous soils of Serralunga d'Alba, which gives a more savoury and more structured version of the style than most. Giovanni Angeli oversees the wine. It is bright and pure on the palate, with the balance between crispness and sweetness held in check and just enough spritz to keep it lifting. Bottled in 375ml.
Drink it young, within a year or two of release. Serve at 8°C with fresh peaches, panettone, or on its own at the end of lunch.
