Meltwater Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2026

Meltwater Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a wild-fermented Sauvignon Blanc built for texture as much as aroma.

Certified-organic, low-cropping blocks in the central Wairau Valley and in Omaka provide the fruit, and from there it gets treatment most Sauvignon never sees: hand harvest, spontaneous fermentation and eight months on lees in tank. Mike Paterson runs Corofin, and this is where he applies the same thinking at an everyday price — no cultured yeast reaching for tropical aromatics, no residual sugar papering over gaps, and enough time on lees to give the wine a proper middle. Marlborough grows a great deal of Sauvignon Blanc; very little of it is made like this.

Ripe citrus and stone fruit held in check by tangy energy, the texture supple and the close dry and clean. Easy to drink, and easy to keep drinking. Serve at 9 to 10 degrees. Fish tacos, green papaya salad, or fresh goat's curd on toast.
