Description

Mike Press Merlot is an estate-grown Adelaide Hills Merlot from the Kenton Valley, here from an older vintage with some bottle age.

High in the Mount Lofty Ranges above Adelaide, altitude brings cool nights and a long growing season. Merlot from sites like this keeps a lively, medium-weight shape, with plum and red-berry fruit, soft tannins and a savoury herbal note. The family vineyard near Lenswood was planted by Mike after years working for larger wine companies, and prices stay well under what the region usually asks.

Several years in bottle have added earthy, savoury notes to the soft plum fruit. Pour it at 16–18°C with roast pork, pizza or mushroom pasta.
