Ministry of Clouds Blewitt Springs Shiraz 2022

Ministry of Clouds Blewitt Springs Shiraz is a sub-regional McLaren Vale Shiraz from the elevated, sandy slopes of Blewitt Springs.

Ministry of Clouds is a small McLaren Vale label founded by Bernice Ong and Julian Forwood, who came to winemaking after long careers in the wine trade. They work with growers across the region, with a particular focus on the old sandy sites of Blewitt Springs, and favour gentle, low-intervention winemaking that keeps the emphasis on site and freshness rather than oak or extraction. Blewitt Springs sits in the higher, cooler north east of McLaren Vale, where deep sand over clay produces wines of fragrance and fine, silky tannin. The district is prized for old vines and is increasingly regarded as the source of the region's most elegant reds. This Shiraz is made to capture that finesse, with restrained use of oak, and is sealed under screwcap.

A refined, full-bodied Shiraz for roast lamb, venison and mushroom dishes; serve at around 17 to 18 degrees.
