Ministry of Clouds Grenache Carignan 2024

Ministry of Clouds Grenache Carignan is a McLaren Vale blend pairing the region's signature Grenache with the less common Carignan.

Ministry of Clouds is a small McLaren Vale label founded by Bernice Ong and Julian Forwood, who came to winemaking after long careers in the wine trade. They work with growers across the region, with a particular focus on the old sandy sites of Blewitt Springs, and favour gentle, low-intervention winemaking that keeps the emphasis on site and freshness rather than oak or extraction. This blend takes its cue from the southern French and Spanish tradition, where Grenache brings generosity and fragrance and Carignan adds acidity, colour and a firmer, savoury frame. Both varieties thrive in McLaren Vale's warm Mediterranean climate, tempered by sea breezes from Gulf St Vincent. The wine is made for freshness and drinkability and is sealed under screwcap.

A lively, medium-bodied red for pizza, grilled sausages, lamb and tomato-based dishes; serve at around 16 degrees.
