Description

Ministry of Clouds Kintsugi is the producer's flagship McLaren Vale blend of old-vine Grenache and Shiraz, named after the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold.

Ministry of Clouds is a small McLaren Vale label founded by Bernice Ong and Julian Forwood, who came to winemaking after long careers in the wine trade. They work with growers across the region, with a particular focus on the old sandy sites of Blewitt Springs, and favour gentle, low-intervention winemaking that keeps the emphasis on site and freshness rather than oak or extraction. Kintsugi sits at the top of the range and is made in very small quantities from selected old-vine parcels. Grenache from old bush vines gives perfume and fine-grained tannin, while Shiraz adds depth and a firmer frame. McLaren Vale's warm, maritime-influenced climate and its patchwork of sand, clay and ironstone soils allow a wine of real depth and structure, balanced by freshness. The wine is sealed under screwcap.

A serious, full-bodied red for slow-roasted beef, lamb and game; serve at around 17 to 18 degrees, ideally after decanting.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
