Description
Ministry of Clouds LDR Light Dry Red is a fresh, chillable Adelaide Hills blend of Pinot Noir, Syrah and Gamay made in the light dry red style.
Ministry of Clouds was founded by Julian Forwood and Bernice Ong, who make wine from carefully selected vineyards across South Australia from their base in McLaren Vale. LDR revives the old Australian 'light dry red' category, a style of early-drinking, lighter red that has returned to favour with modern drinkers. The fruit is grown in the Adelaide Hills, a high, cool region in the Mount Lofty Ranges where cold nights and a long growing season preserve natural acidity and moderate alcohol. Pinot Noir brings red fruit and finesse, Syrah adds spice and a little depth, and Gamay contributes juicy, bright fruit, giving a red made for freshness rather than power. The wine is made with a light touch to keep the tannins soft, and is bottled under screwcap.
Light-bodied and bright, it is best served lightly chilled at around 12 to 14 degrees with charcuterie, pizza or picnic fare.
