Ministry of Clouds Silk and Stone Grenache 2024

Ministry of Clouds Silk and Stone Grenache is a premium McLaren Vale Grenache and one of the producer's top reds.

Ministry of Clouds is a small McLaren Vale label founded by Bernice Ong and Julian Forwood, who came to winemaking after long careers in the wine trade. They work with growers across the region, with a particular focus on the old sandy sites of Blewitt Springs, and favour gentle, low-intervention winemaking that keeps the emphasis on site and freshness rather than oak or extraction. McLaren Vale is home to some of the world's oldest Grenache, much of it dry-grown on bush vines, and the variety performs particularly well on the region's sandy and stony soils. Silk and Stone is one of the producer's premium Grenache bottlings, made in small quantities with gentle extraction to favour fragrance and fine-grained tannin over weight. It is sealed under screwcap.

An elegant, medium-bodied Grenache for roast lamb, duck and mushroom risotto; serve at around 16 degrees.
