Description
Ministry of Clouds Spice Garden Grenache is a single-vineyard McLaren Vale Grenache and one of the producer's top reds.
Ministry of Clouds is a small McLaren Vale label founded by Bernice Ong and Julian Forwood, who came to winemaking after long careers in the wine trade. They work with growers across the region, with a particular focus on the old sandy sites of Blewitt Springs, and favour gentle, low-intervention winemaking that keeps the emphasis on site and freshness rather than oak or extraction. McLaren Vale is home to some of the world's oldest Grenache, much of it dry-grown on bush vines, and the variety reaches its most expressive form on the region's sandy soils. Spice Garden is one of the producer's single-vineyard Grenache bottlings, made in small quantities to highlight the character of a single site. Winemaking is gentle, aiming for perfume and fine tannin, and the wine is sealed under screwcap.
A fragrant, medium-bodied Grenache for duck, roast pork, lamb and spiced dishes; serve at around 16 degrees.
