Description
Ministry of Clouds Tempranillo Grenache is a McLaren Vale blend inspired by the classic pairing of these two grapes in northern Spain.
Ministry of Clouds is a small McLaren Vale label founded by Bernice Ong and Julian Forwood, who came to winemaking after long careers in the wine trade. They work with growers across the region, with a particular focus on the old sandy sites of Blewitt Springs, and favour gentle, low-intervention winemaking that keeps the emphasis on site and freshness rather than oak or extraction. Tempranillo, the backbone of Rioja and Ribera del Duero, brings structure and savoury depth, while Grenache adds generosity, perfume and softness. The combination is a natural fit for McLaren Vale's warm Mediterranean climate, where maritime breezes from Gulf St Vincent keep the fruit fresh. The wine is made in an approachable style without heavy oak and is sealed under screwcap.
A supple, medium-bodied red for tapas, grilled meats, paella and slow-cooked lamb; serve at around 16 degrees.
