Montinore Estate Reserve Pinot Noir 2018

Montinore Estate Reserve Pinot Noir is a single-vintage selection from the estate's best Pinot Noir blocks.

Three clones made the cut in 2018, Pommard, Wadenswil and Dijon, drawn from three of the most prized blocks on the property: Graham's, Parsons and Plumlee. Blocks were destemmed and fermented apart in small open-top steel vessels so clone and site could speak on their own terms, and the blend was only assembled after maturation, which ran ten months in French barriques with 41 per cent new. That is a serious proportion of new wood, and it explains why the wine wants air. The Tualatin Hills estate is dry-farmed and certified biodynamic by Demeter.

Deep and brooding, with dark Pinot fruit, warm spice and supple structure over mineral depth and a long finish. Decant it and let it unfurl. Serve at 16 degrees with roast lamb, duck confit, or a mushroom and truffle pasta.
