Description
Moorooduc Estate Pinot Gris is a wild-fermented Pinot Gris from one of the pioneering family estates of the Mornington Peninsula, in half bottle.
The Mornington Peninsula is a maritime region south east of Melbourne, almost surrounded by Port Phillip and Western Port bays, whose cool, breezy climate suits the Burgundian and Alsace varieties. Moorooduc Estate was established by Dr Richard McIntyre and his wife Jill in the early days of the region's modern revival, on the warmer northern side of the peninsula near the township of Moorooduc, and is now run with their daughter Kate McIntyre MW. The estate is known for a hands-off approach in the cellar, with fermentation by indigenous yeast. Pinot Gris is picked for texture rather than sweetness and made in a dry style, with some lees contact to add weight. The wine is sealed under screwcap.
Dry and textured, it suits pork, roast chicken, Asian-spiced dishes and soft cheeses; serve at around 10 degrees.
