Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Merlot 2022

Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Merlot is a straight varietal Merlot, rare from a producer of this standing in Margaret River.

Merlot is usually blended into Cabernet in Australia, but Ribbon Vale's gravelly Wilyabrup soils and the region's long maritime season give it enough structure to stand alone. Moss Wood acquired the vineyard in 2000 and vinifies it separately. Fermentation is in small open vessels and the wine matures in French oak barriques.

Serve at 17 degrees with duck, veal or a mushroom ragù. It develops over twelve years.
