Description

Mt. Brave Merlot is grown on the steep volcanic slopes of Mount Veeder in Napa Valley.

Merlot on a mountain site behaves quite differently from the valley floor: thin soils and low yields give it tannin and structure rather than softness, and Mount Veeder's elevation and bay influence keep the acidity in place. The estate bottles only mountain fruit from this appellation. Maturation is in French oak.

Decant and serve at 17 degrees with duck, veal or a mushroom ragù. It develops over fifteen years.
