Mt Difficulty Bannockburn Pinot Gris 2025

Mt Difficulty Bannockburn Pinot Gris is a rich, textured Pinot Gris from one of Central Otago's best-known sub-regions.

Mt Difficulty was started in the early 1990s by a small group of growers in Bannockburn, a warm, dry corner of Central Otago on the southern bank of the Kawarau River. The vineyards sit beneath the mountain that gives the winery its name, on old gold-mining land with low rainfall and big differences between day and night temperatures. Winemaker Greg Lane lets the ripe fruit sit on its lees to build a glossy, rounded texture. Brown pear, jasmine and cinnamon quill lead the aromas, and the wine is dry, full-bodied and balanced by lively acidity.

A dry Pinot Gris with this much texture is made for the table. Serve chilled with pork and fennel, roast duck or a mild Indian curry.
