Mt Difficulty Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2024

Mt Difficulty Bannockburn Pinot Noir is the flagship regional Pinot from a pioneering Central Otago winery.

Pinot Noir is Central Otago's signature grape, and Bannockburn is one of the region's warmest and driest sub-regions, giving ripe, dark-fruited wines. Mt Difficulty's founding growers were among the first to plant here, on terraces of schist and loess below the Carrick Range. This wine brings together fruit from their Bannockburn vineyards and is matured in French oak. It shows deep red and black cherry, lavender, wild thyme and anise, with a fleshy mid-palate, sweet spice from oak and silky tannins leading to a long finish.

Serve at around 15 to 17 degrees with seared duck breast, venison or mushroom and truffle risotto. It will cellar well for five to eight years.
