Mt Difficulty Bannockburn Sauvignon Blanc 2025

Mt Difficulty Bannockburn Sauvignon Blanc is a textural Sauvignon from Central Otago, a long way south of Marlborough.

Central Otago is better known for Pinot Noir, but its hot days and cold nights also produce Sauvignon Blanc with a riper, rounder edge. Mt Difficulty grow theirs in Bannockburn, near Cromwell, where the dry climate and free-draining soils give concentrated fruit. The wine is green straw, with pineapple, gooseberry, lemongrass and sweet basil, and a palate of juicy tropical fruit and fresh herbs. A stony, mineral texture through the middle leads to a long finish. It is a good choice for Sauvignon drinkers looking for something with a bit more weight.

Well chilled, it suits goat's cheese salads, grilled snapper with salsa verde or asparagus with hollandaise.
