Description
This wooden case holds a vertical of six vintages of Müller-Catoir's Bürgergarten Riesling, a Grosses Gewächs site in the Pfalz.
The Pfalz is Germany's warmest major Riesling region, and Haardt, just north of Neustadt, is one of its finest villages. Bürgergarten sits on sandstone and loess above the village and is classified Grosses Gewächs, the top tier of dry single-vineyard wine, so these are dry Rieslings of real weight rather than the delicate style of the Mosel. Müller-Catoir has been in the same family for generations and has long been one of the reference estates of the region, working with spontaneous fermentation, long lees ageing and large old oak Fuder alongside stainless steel. Presenting the site as a vertical is the point of this pack: the same vineyard and the same hand across a run of consecutive vintages, which is the clearest way to read what the site does and how the wines develop in bottle.
The older bottles are ready and the youngest will reward five to ten years; serve at 10-12°C with roast pork, smoked trout or a mature hard cheese.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
