Müller-Catoir MC Riesling 2021

Müller-Catoir MC Riesling is the estate's entry-level dry Riesling, cropped at a level most producers reserve for their top wines.

The Pfalz runs south from the Rheinhessen border along the Haardt hills, and Müller-Catoir, based at Haardt near Neustadt, has been one of its reference estates for decades. The fruit here is all estate-grown and hand-harvested from sandstone slopes in Mussbach, Gimmeldingen and Haardt itself, and yields are held to 35 hectolitres per hectare, low for an entry wine and a deliberate counter to the younger age of the vines. The estate farms organically. The wine is dry, cool and linear in style, with tension between texture and acidity rather than weight, and a savoury, faintly iodine edge to the finish.

Ready on release and capable of five or six years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled white fish, roast chicken or a Vietnamese herb salad.
