Munda Kaurna Country Syrah 2022

Munda Kaurna Country Syrah is a perfumed South Australian Syrah grown in the sandy soils of Blewitt Springs, on Kaurna Country.

The label is Aboriginal owned, and its name comes from munda, a word for land or Country; every bottling acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land where the grapes are grown. Kaurna Country stretches across the Adelaide Plains and south to McLaren Vale, and this wine draws on Blewitt Springs, the higher corner of the Vale known for deep sand over clay and for reds with lift and fine, powdery tannins. Calling it Syrah points to the style: blueberry, dark cherry and plum with floral notes and cooking spice, a medium to full-bodied palate and the sandy, biscuity tannin grip the sub-region is known for.

Open it at around 16 to 18 degrees alongside barbecued lamb cutlets, duck ragù or a mushroom and blue cheese pie. Drinking nicely now, it has the structure to sit in the cellar for several years.
