Munda Wadandi Country Chardonnay Margaret River 2023

Munda Wadandi Country Chardonnay Margaret River is a textural, gently oaked Chardonnay from Western Australia's best-known region for the grape.

Wadandi Country is the coastal land of the south-west of Western Australia, home to the Wadandi or Saltwater people, and this Aboriginal-owned label names it on the front of the bottle as it does for every source region. Margaret River's mild, maritime climate, moderated by the Indian Ocean, has made it one of Australia's benchmark Chardonnay regions. Oak adds texture and a cashew-nut note to white peach, pear and citrus, while a line of lemon-sherbet acidity gives focus and length. Savoury mineral, oatmeal and spice aromatics add further complexity.

Chill lightly, to around 10 to 12 degrees, and serve with pan-fried snapper, roast chicken with tarragon or marron if you can find it. Good now, it should build more texture over the next few years.
