Munda Walgalu Country Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2023

Munda Walgalu Country Tumbarumba Chardonnay is a finely crafted, high-altitude Chardonnay grown on Walgalu Country in the Snowy Mountains foothills.

Owned by Aboriginal people, this label credits the Traditional Owners of the land its grapes come from, and the word munda itself means land or Country. The Tumbarumba region in southern New South Wales is known for cold nights, late ripening and long, slow seasons, conditions that suit both Chardonnay and sparkling base wine. In 2023 the wine shows citrus blossom, white stone fruit and beeswax with almond meal and exotic spice, a creamy mid-palate and bright acidity, while toasted oak, nougat and a flinty note add detail to a long, precise finish.

Enjoy it at around 10 to 12 degrees with grilled scallops, veal schnitzel or soft washed-rind cheese. A short decant helps it open up in its youth, and it can be cellared with confidence for a few years.
