Nautilus Estate Pinot Gris 2025

Nautilus Estate Pinot Gris is a generous, textural Marlborough Pinot Gris given time on lees for weight.

Family owned since the Hill-Smith family founded it, the estate makes its wines at Renwick in Marlborough's Wairau Valley. Pinot Gris, the same grape as Italy's Pinot Grigio, takes on a riper, rounder character in Marlborough's long, sunny autumns, and here it is made in a textural style, with lees contact adding weight and a silky finish. The 2025 shows fresh pear and orange blossom with ginger and baking spice, then ripe stonefruit, citrus peel and a hint of almond on the palate, held together by bright acidity.

Well chilled, it pairs nicely with pork dumplings, Thai green curry or a platter of soft cheeses. Drink over the next couple of years.
